University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning alumnus Dan Drotos (MBC ‘11) was one of a select group of UF graduates selected to this year’s prominent “40 Gators Under 40.”

Presented by the UF Alumni Association, the annual awards program was established in 2006 to recognize alumni under the age of 40 whose achievements positively reflect The Gator Nation. Criteria for the competitive award include making a significant impact on the candidate’s industry and having civic or professional accomplishments at the state, national or international level.

“Dan’s outstanding achievements exemplify the caliber of excellence we foster at DCP,” Dean Chimay Anumba said. “We are immensely proud of his significant contributions to the industry and his dedication to positively impacting our community.”

Based out of Gainesville, Drotos currently serves as the senior vice president of Colliers, a publicly traded international full-service commercial real estate firm with over 18,000 brokers in 66 countries. The Fort Lauderdale native is widely considered a market leader and expert and has served as a broker, advisor, and consultant on thousands of transactions in Alachua County.

As the current regional director for the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), Drotos is known region wide for facilitating growth in the industry. He also earned the prestigious designation as a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and was one of the initial founders of the Small Business Leadership Council through the United Way. In addition, his pivotal time on the board at Ronald McDonald House saw them execute a capital campaign to move into a new house.

The 40 Under 40 Award is in addition to his several local, regional, and even international awards for his achievements in commercial real estate. Drotos will be honored with a memorable and impactful recognition experience on campus the weekend March 28-29, 2024.

“The University of Florida was the catalyst that propelled my career, opening doors and opportunities I did not think were possible,” Drotos said. “I look forward to connecting with my fellow honorees and collaborating with each other in promoting the Gator Nation for the next generation of graduates.”
