The Mechanical Laboratory Sequence

Changing the method the laboratories are delivered is a fundamental part of the Mechanical laboratory sequence and keeps things interesting. We have field trips; demonstrations by craftsmen, hands-on instruction by craftsmen with the opportunity for participation; use of equipment trainers; plan reading and peer to peer learning laboratories. Peer to Peer laboratories are done by soliciting a group of volunteers who are trained and these people in turn train the rest of their classmates. One of these Peer to Peer labs is for students to learn how to solder copper pipe, use compression and flare fittings, make cross-linked polyethylene connections, solvent weld plastic pipe and thread black iron pipe.
