Third Annual Residential Summit Focuses on Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence and its role in the residential construction industry was the main topic of the 2022 Residential Summit, hosted by the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management. The biannual event, which took place for the third time Sept. 23, 2022, inside the Florida Room of the Stephen C. O’Connell Center, featured University of Florida students learning from and networking with dozens of UF alumni currently working in the residential industry.

Rinker Career Fair Boasts Record-High 116 Companies

The annual M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management Fall Career Fair was one for the books this year. In the past, the career fair has taken place on the floor level of the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. This year, there were so many companies at the fair, the venue had to utilize the Tom and Jane Johnson Family Atrium in addition to the main floor level just to accommodate everyone. With a record-high 116 companies, Rinker students had the opportunity of a lifetime to speak with so many great companies.

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Takes Place for The John and Anne Sofarelli Family Gallery

University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning Dean Chimay Anumba formally announced the DCP Gallery has been renamed the John and Anne Sofarelli Family Gallery. A public ribbon-cutting ceremony took place April 15, 2022, at the School of Architecture Building featuring the Sofarelli family, faculty, students, staff and friends of the program.

Safety Yard Officially Opens at UF TREEO Center

Designed to benefit students at the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management and reduce the 150,000 annual injuries on construction job sites, the brand-new Safety Yard at the University of Florida TREEO Center officially opened this past Friday, April 1. Collaborating with the UF College of Design, Construction and Planning were the Kiewit Corporation, Santa Fe College, Charles Perry Partners, Inc. and the UF Office of Professional and Workforce Development.

Rinker School Hosts Second Annual Residential Building Summit

University of Florida graduates and students from the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management gathered inside the Florida Room of the Stephen C. O’Connell Center March 2, 2022, for the second annual Residential Building Summit. Surrounded by more than a dozen residential building companies, Rinker students networked with industry professionals while learning more about the residential construction industry.

Pugh Honored with UF Distinguished Alumni Award

M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management graduate Jim Pugh (BSCM ’63) was honored Dec. 18 at the University of Florida fall commencement ceremony inside the Stephen C. O’Connell Center as the recipient of the 2021 UF Distinguished Alumni Award. The honor, which is one of UF’s most prestigious awards through the President’s Office, is presented to an alumnus of the university who has excelled in their chosen field and has performed outstanding service for the university.

Rinker School Hosts Inaugural Residential Building Summit

A dozen residential building companies made up of mostly University of Florida graduates convened inside the Stephen C. O’Connell Center Tuesday afternoon for the inaugural Residential Building Summit. The event, held on the eve of the annual M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management Career Fair, was designed to encourage students to pursue a career in the residential construction industry.

Distinguished Veteran and CEO Alumnus Inducted into Rinker Hall of Fame

Col. Jack W. Martin and Wayne S. McCall were inducted into the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management Hall of Fame this past Saturday on the campus of the University of Florida. The Hall of Fame honors those who have truly distinguished themselves in the construction profession.
