Hard Hat Ceremony Highlight of Annual Rinker School Welcome Reception

Highlighted by the annual hard hat ceremony for the incoming junior class, the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management held their annual Welcome Reception this past Thursday. The overflowing room of new students heard a welcome message from Rinker School Director Dr. Robert F. Cox, along with presentations on the history of the school, the plethora of internship opportunities and graduate programs that are offered and study abroad opportunities across the globe.

Action Equipment Named Top Gator-Owned Business; 22 DCP Businesses Recognized

Led by No. 1 Action Equipment, the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning placed 22 alumni-owned companies on the 2023 Gator100, the UF Alumni Association announced Friday. Those who made the list, which recognizes the 100 fastest-growing Gator-owned or Gator-led businesses in the world, were honored in a ceremony inside the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. DCP, UF Engineering Sign Agreement with Autodesk Inc. to Drive Student Success and Innovative Integration

Autodesk, an industry leader in changing how the world is designed and made, signed a $300,000 gift agreement with the University of Florida this past Wednesday on campus. The gift will be evenly split between the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning and the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.

Gheisari Uses Virtual Reality to Make Site Visits More Accessible for Students

In October 2018, M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management Associate Professor Dr. Masoud Gheisari received a grant from the National Science Foundation to figure out how his students could safely learn on construction sites. After all, with more than 150,000 total cases of nonfatal injuries on construction sites annually, the top priority for Rinker students is safety. The problem further deepened in 2020 once the reality of the COVID-19 global pandemic hit.

Celebrating Thirty Years of the Witters Competition

Last month saw another crop of students present their visions and vie for the grand prize of the Witters Competition, which was established in 1993. The competition was endowed by Col. Arthur G.
