Peppa Pig might have said, “It’s impossible!” but for University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning alumni Keith Carr (BSBC ’07), Timothy Wagoner (MARCH ’95) and Steve Boyington (BDES ’79), building the world’s first Peppa Pig Theme Park is becoming a reality.

“The project currently underway addresses these ideas of a marked context. The students would likely refer to the project as “ruins,” though the idea of ruins reaches well beyond the fragments of a previous time. The studios are all at slightly different stages of development, though I think all have shifted from analytical beginnings to more targeted responses (what is there, what is brought to it, and why…). I should also note that D3 centers on idea of process rather than product, and more so, on working through iterations. If you watch the work of the studios over the next couple of weeks, you’ll see how an early exercise is reinterpreted and begins to generate a subsequent step, that in turn is redirected to a different end. I know that may sound vague, particularly if you’re looking at the studios from the outside – but that may be the point, as D3 is often more of an exploration than a scripted set of steps.  

University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning alumnus Max Strang (BDES ’94) is taking his business, Strang Design, to the next level by partnering with Tesla, Panther National, Willstrong and Peacock and Lewis to create a 218-luxury home development in Palm Beach, Fla., that features solar panel roofs, power walls, batteries and electric vehicle chargers. Strang Design will create all the homes for this project.

More than 300,000 visitors will view the work of the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning through a video being shown this year at the 17th Biennale di Venezia di Architettura held in Venice, Italy.

We are excited to announce that Vernelle A. A. Noel, Ph.D. has joined the University of Florida School of Architecture for the Fall 2020 semester as an Assistant Professor of Architecture + Computational Design.

This past summer, the University of Florida Board of Trustees approved the College of Design, Construction and Planning’s exemption request to install a new roof on the architecture building, along with repairs of the building’s south-side studio balconies. Construction began Aug. 5
