University of Florida Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Chair Dr. Lingqian (Ivy) Hu was named co-editor of the Journal of Planning Education and Research (JPER), the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) announced Tuesday.
Published on a quarterly basis beginning in July 1981, JPER is the flagship publication of the ACSP and showcases pioneering research and insights from educators and professionals in the field. It serves as a vital resource for planning education and practice.
“We believe that JPER is the core platform for inclusive and rigorous academic discourses, in response to emerging challenges and prospects in our own discipline,” Hu said in a statement. “JPER also needs to engage in public communication to amplify the impacts of planning. We are confident that we will achieve these aspirations through collaboration with authors, ACSP and SAGE.”
A former ACSP Governing Board member and current chair of the ACSP Committee on the Academy, Hu’s goal as editor will be to promote collaboration, further research, and boost UF’s academic reputation within the planning community.
In addition, UF URP professor Zhong-Ren Peng was named associate editor for the publication.
