For more than 20 years, Current Builders has been a loyal supporter of the University of Florida’s College of Design, Construction and Planning and they recently gave $100,000, the firm’s most significant single contribution to date.
“We are thrilled to receive this gift from Current Builders as it will go a long way to enhancing our capacity to support deserving students,” UF DCP Dean Chimay Anumba stated. “They share our passion for creating the next generation of construction industry leaders and we are pleased to strengthen our partnership.”
Current Builders has 22 University of Florida graduates employed at the firm and wants to help current M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management students who are aspiring construction professionals.
“We have been honored to support the University of Florida and its mission for decades,” Chip Reid, Current Builders CEO, explained. “So when the university embarked on its latest campaign, “Go Greater,” and the ambition for preeminence in every college within the university, Current Builders knew that we had to be a part of the program and offer our financial support.”
Reid said it meant so much to the company that Dean Anumba personally reached out to share his vision to unify the college and achieve his goal of OneDCP.
“He is doing an excellent job of engaging with the design and construction industry to elevate the University of Florida name and brand,” Reid stated. “It is an exciting time to be a part of the Gator Nation as Dean Anumba’s collaborative spirit is coupled with Dr. Ray Issa’s superior leadership as director of the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management.”
Current Builders has been in business for 46 years. Reid attributes a large part of that success to the company’s longstanding relationship with our college and the high-quality graduates from the Rinker School.
“Well-educated and committed professionals are the foundation of our company,” Reid said. “We have benefitted tremendously from the University of Florida’s commitment to build a program and curriculum that ensures the continued success of the design and construction industry.”
“The impact that this donation will have on the school, its students and our firm is immeasurable,” Reid added. “Current Builders is pleased to support the University of Florida’s College of Design, Construction and Planning with this donation earmarked for scholarships for students that have entered the Rinker School and will realize the benefit in the form of superior hiring prospects for the foreseeable future.”
