Rinker School of Construction Management assistant professor Ravi Srinivasan was invited to present a two-credit-hour short course titled “Architecture and Systems Ecology” at the Department of Architecture at Southeast University (SEU) in Nanjing, China.
SEU is one of the top universities in China and is also China’s second ranked department of architecture.
The textbook used for the class was Srinivasan’s first book, “The Hierarchy of Energy in Architecture: Emergy Analysis.”
During this short course, the 16 graduate students learned the fundamentals of environmental building design, using thermodynamic principles. Students learned energy systems diagramming, environmental accounting procedures and evaluation.
The course was held daily from June 14-21 (including weekends) and the host professor at SEU was Changhai Peng.
