SLA&P Students and Faculty Help In Hurricane Cleanups

Students and faculty in the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning volunteered in two post-disaster debris cleanups following the recent hurricanes on the Gulf and Atlantic coasts. The cleanup following Hurricane Hermine was in Cedar Key, and in coordination with the city’s International Coastal Cleanup event. Along with DCP students and faculty, many volunteers across the state participated in the event.

The Hurricane Matthew cleanup took place in Marineland near St. Augustine, helping Ripple Effect Ecotours, the UF Whitney Lab and the GTM Research Reserve. Participating students were Alex Ahrenholz, Morouje Akbar, Adam Carr, Alvimarie Corales, Kyle Dost, Lea Kindt, Jen Krouchick, Ziming Li, Wenjun Lu, Austin Rankin, Jarrell Smith and Ruiyuan Mona Yang. Faculty were Kathryn Frank and Michael Volk.
