The University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning held its inaugural “Future of AI at DCP” event in the Dhvanit and Saloni Patel Atrium at Jonathan and Melanie Antevy Hall this past Tuesday. This event featured technology founders, distinguished alumni and faculty sharing their insights and strategies to use AI-driven innovation in design, construction and planning.

“Artificial intelligence is reshaping each discipline, and our college is leading that transformation,” DCP Dean Chimay Anumba said. “The University of Florida had made AI a central part of its mission, and DCP is proud to be at the forefront of that initiative.”

Josh Levy (BSBC ’05), CEO of Document Crunch, an AI risk reduction platform for construction, served as a moderator and panelist and shared words of knowledge with the capacity crowd in attendance.

“It’s important to me that this school and DCP continue to be the best in the world,” Levy said. “AI is changing this industry so fast that it’s really my vision helping with the Dean’s AI initiative to empower DCP students.”

Many students and faculty attended the event to gain a deeper understanding of how emerging technologies are shaping their respective fields. The panel discussions highlighted how AI can streamline design processes, enhance construction efficiency, and support sustainable urban planning.

Levy, who served on the first panel with fellow Gators turned entrepreneurs, spoke to moderator Jonathan Antevy (BDES ’93, MSBC ’94) about using AI for collaboration and training, and how learning is important for the industry to grow and advance.

The second panel focused on real solutions for AI in industry and was moderated by Levy. There, a trio of panelists discussed how AI applications stretching from generative design tools to risk management platforms are transforming the built environment and redefining problem-solving across disciplines.

After a lunch that featured networking with DCP faculty, the third panel saw a robust discussion on digital twins and the brand-new Bruno E. and Maritza F. Ramos Collaboratory. Following that, Levy and Antevy ended the event with encouraging words promoting the next steps in AI.
