Evan Bolton Memorial Scholarship

The Evan Bolton Memorial Scholarship was established by friends, family and local builders. This scholarship fund honors Bolton, who died unexpectedly in March 2017 at the age of 13.

Bolton grew up in Gainesville, Florida and attended Alachua County Schools. His father, Adam Bolton, is a 1997 M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management graduate and both he and his wife, Kara, were past presidents of the Builders Association of North Central Florida.

Bolton was a kind and gentle person. He was sensitive to everyone around him. He was friendly, loving, and giving and was well liked by everyone lucky enough to meet him.

He loved the water and the ocean. His favorite place was at the beach playing in the waves. He spent many days with his father kite-surfing, boogie or skim boarding and he would sleep in a hammock outside on his family’s sailboat on weekends. In fact, part of the application process includes a paragraph about the applicants love for the ocean and adventures.

Bolton enjoyed woodworking with his father and, just days before he passed away, they constructed a longboard skateboard together and Evan painted a flying fish on the skateboard.
