Chimay Anumba, dean of the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning, has been honored with the 2018 Computing in Civil Engineering Award, presented by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
The ASCE recognizes Anumba as one of the world’s leading experts in developing artificial intelligence solutions to construction and civil engineering problems, noting his publication record is outstanding with more than 450 scientific publications, including 17 books and over 183 journal papers.
“Dr. Anumba has made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of computing in civil engineering through this research, publications, mentorship and service to the profession,” the ASCE’s Computing Division stated. “His main research contributions have been in the fields of knowledge-based systems, agent-based systems and integrated system design.”
Anumba, who earned his first college degree at the age of 18, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in July 2012. He has been dean at the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning since August 2016.
