The Anumba Zumba Charity Challenge was held Thursday, Oct. 18 and it was a huge success. Students came filing out of the studios to either dance or watch UF President Kent Fuchs and DCP Dean Chimay Anumba show off their moves.
The event was held to promote and raise money for the University of Florida Campaign for Charities (UFCC), which is the annual employee giving campaign. The UFCC allows UF employees to make charitable donations through various means. This year, the UFCC Campaign Chair was none other than our dean, Chimay Anumba.
We decided to bring back our successful Anumba Zumba event from two years ago. The students, faculty and staff had a great time dancing with Dean Anumba at that event.
But we needed something to top that event since Dean Anumba was in charge of the campaign this year. Enter President Fuchs posting a dance video on Twitter from the first week of school.
We capitalized on that and mentioned our Anumba Zumba event to him in this tweet. President Fuchs responded here with a challenge for Dean Anumba, to which he promptly responded here, setting plans in motion for President Fuchs to dance for charity with Dean Anumba in the Architecture Building Atrium.
Everyone had a great time and we raised a lot of money for charity. Thank you to everyone who came out and donated.
