The M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management announced Friday a significant philanthropic gift from Judy Riggle, dedicated to her late husband, Colonel Charles “Frank” Riggle III (BBC ’70).
“Frank was always a big supporter of the University of Florida and had very fond memories of the Rinker School,” Judy said. “When he graduated Rinker, he had 13 job interviews fresh out of college, and received 13 offers, so he was always proud of how Rinker prepared him for the rest of his life.”
In recognition of Judy’s generosity and lasting impact, the office of Instructional Assistant Professor Eileen Pesantes-Tavares has been officially named in honor of Frank, who passed away four years ago this month. The dedication ceremony Friday served as a meaningful tribute, celebrating the legacy of the 1970 Rinker graduate while supporting the faculty who play a vital role in shaping the next generation of construction professionals.
“This gift reflects a deep belief in education and the people who make it possible,” said Rinker School Director Dr. Robert F. Cox. “By honoring her husband in this way, Judy Riggle has created a lasting connection between Frank’s legacy and the daily work of our faculty and students.”
Pesantes-Tavares echoed those sentiments.
“I am honored to have my office named through this generous gift,” she said. “It is a privilege to work in a space that carries such personal meaning and reflects a commitment to education and the Rinker community.”
