Prior to the University of Florida football team defeating Mississippi State University by a score of 23-21 Saturday in The Swamp, the College of Design, Construction and Planning welcomed back alumni, faculty, students and friends for its annual Alumni Tailgate in the Dhvanit and Solani Patel Atrium at Jonathan and Melanie Antevy Hall. The event, part of DCP’s Centennial Celebration, was sponsored by C/F Data Systems and Component Assembly Systems.

“Things are much improved at the College. We have a brand-new building, the Ramos Collaboratory,” said Bryan Kornblau (BBC ’81), who was inducted into the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management Hall of Fame in 2017. “We’re really excited about the future of architecture, building construction and design programs.”

Attendees gathered and met up with old friends, classmates and reconnected with the OneDCP community while enjoying Sonny’s BBQ and game-day tailgating festivities.

“I haven’t been here since the renovations of the building, but seeing the studios and technology improving almost makes me wish I was going to school now,” said Ken Ray (MLA’07). “It was great then, but now it seems like it’s even better.”

For Elisabeth Manley (MLAR ’00), the event showcased how far the college has come in the last decade.

“To see the constant evolution and all of the projects that have happened over the last 10 years has really raised the bar, I think, for our college,” said Manley. “I love seeing a lot more collaboration between our different departments and different groups. It has made us all better from practitioners to our recent graduates.”

The annual Alumni Tailgate continues to serve as a cherished tradition, celebrating DCP’s strong network of alumni who return each year to support the next generation of Gators and the future of design, construction and planning.
