Transportation Planner

The Town of Nantucket seeks an experienced Transportation Planner to support the
Planning & Land Use Services (PLUS) Department with daily transportation planning
activities which include the collection and analysis of traffic, parking, transit, bicycle,
pedestrian, ferry, and air traffic data. Under the direction of the Planning Director, or their
designee, the Transportation Planner is responsible for the preparation of transportation
studies and proposals, financial analysis, and grant-writing, as well as technical assistance to local Boards and Commissions and project management of transportation improvement design projects including bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

Requires a degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a transportation emphasis or a
related field and 5-10 years of experience in transportation at a local or regional level. Or, a
master’s degree, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in transportation planning at the local or regional level. Accreditation by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred.

The employee must have a valid Class D Motor Vehicle License.

Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills necessary. Must be able to interpret and
comprehend technical specifications and work independently with minimal supervision.

Full Time; Benefits; Union Position; Annual Rate (LiUNA S-C) $89,920 – $113,287
(Salary commensurate with years of service with this Union per the LiUNA CBA. For more information, please contact Human Resources).
