Civil Construction Project Management Intern – MG Dyess (A Quanta Services Company)

Brief Internship Description

The Civil Construction Project Management Intern will support M.G. Dyess, a leading pipeline contractor and Quanta Services company, by assisting the Project Management team in the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale civil and pipeline construction projects. This internship provides hands-on experience across the entire project lifecycle, from project development and estimating to field operations, safety compliance, and project closeout. You’ll apply your academic knowledge to real-world infrastructure challenges, preparing you for a future managerial role in the civil construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Documentation & Control: Assist in preparing and maintaining project documents, including specifications, drawings, contracts, submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Planning & Scheduling: Help track project progress, milestones, and deliverables, and assist in updating construction schedules.
• Cost Management: Support the estimating team by compiling takeoffs, soliciting vendor quotes, tracking project costs, and assisting with change order requests.
• Field Support: Conduct site visits, assist in monitoring construction quality, verify field conditions, and help ensure adherence to safety protocols (OSHA/MSHA).
• Communication: Maintain communication with subcontractors, vendors, internal teams, and project stakeholders.
• Closeout: Assist in compiling project closeout packages and organizing project files.

Qualifications 

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent).
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required; familiarity with scheduling or project management software is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and work in field conditions.
• Valid driver’s license
