In its continuing pursuit to highlight excellence in design education and optimize industry relevance, DesignIntelligence has created a new, more relevant survey to highlight the strengths of every design education program.
To help the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning become a top-rated college, Dean Chimay Anumba is asking all professionals, alumni and students to complete the surveys below. This rating will enhance the value of a DCP degree and help UF in its mission to become a top-five public university.
The survey is now open and will close on Friday, July 2, 2021.
If you are a person in your firm who hires architects, interior designers or landscape architects, you are invited to share your experiences and perspectives in the professions surveys. If you hire in more than one discipline, you are invited to complete a survey for each discipline in which you hire.
The Professions Surveys are for hiring/supervising professionals within firms:

If you are a current student or a new alumni who has graduated within the last two years, you are invited to share your experiences and perspectives in the student surveys. If you are taking classes in more than one discipline, you are invited to complete a survey for each discipline.
The Students Surveys are for both undergraduate and graduate students as well as new alumni who have graduated within the last two years:

ABOUT THE RATINGS PROGRAM
This new program shifts from Rankings to Ratings. The highlights of the new program include:
- Design school programs will be rated based on their individual attributes and merits.
- Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape Architecture Programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels will continue to be included.
- Input from Deans/Department Chairs, Professionals, and Students will continue to be solicited.
- Programs will be given a single, cumulative rating as well as in five separate categories: Output of Institution, Outcomes from Alumni, Learning Environments, Relevance and Distinctions.
- A 1-5 rating scale will be used with 1 being extremely dissatisfactory and 5 being extraordinary.
- An objective committee designated by DesignIntelligence will review the information received via the surveys and will assign a rating for each of the five categories for each program.
- A maximum rating of 3 will be given to any program that does not submit the requested information. These ratings will be based on information garnered from publicly available sources and will not, in most cases, reflect the full profile of the institution. Therefore, it behooves every program to participate.
- DI will continue to ask professionals for the “Most Hired From” selections.

HISTORY OF DESIGNINTELLIGENCE SURVEY
Since 1994, DesignIntelligence has been dedicated to the business success of firms and organizations in architecture, engineering, construction (A/E/C) and design.
The ranking that began in 2000, America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools, became America’s Most Admired Architecture and Design Schools, in full recognition that a BEST school does not exist. Design school programs are not one-size-fits-all.
In 2018, DesignIntelligence made a deliberate shift implementing a new ranking – America’s Most Hired from Design Schools. For DesignIntelligence, this new ranking became of greatest importance to the design professions.
Last year, DesignIntelligence made the difficult decision to suspend the 2020 rankings in light of the pandemic and its impact on higher education.
