Job Overview

The Assistant Superintedent will work closely with all members of the project team and will assist with the field supervision of all subcontractors, vendors and craft employees.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned subcontractors and/or phases so that the projects are built per plan and approved shop drawings, scheduling and coordination of jobsite logistics.
    • Assist in managing daily field operations to ensure work progresses per the schedule.
    • Monitor jobsite activities to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
    • Collaborate with Construction Managers/Superintendents to forecast labor needs.
  • Performing regular schedule updates for assignments providing feedback for new work items into the schedule.
    • Update project schedules and prepare look ahead schedules.
    • Manage assigned scopes in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Maintain a clean job site, enforcing OSHA safety standards, and ensuring compliance with Company policy, local/state regulations and building codes.
  • Ability to manage various aspects of construction including structural assemblies (concrete systems, structural steel, trusses) envelope and waterproofing, glazing systems, MEPF, high end-finishes and fixtures, site amenities and pools.  Coordinate RFI’s as needed between the subcontractors and design team.
  • Plan daily tasks, prioritize workload, and track project milestones.
    • Maintain daily logs of site activities, manpower, and weather conditions.
  • Communicate plans to subcontractors and suppliers.
    • Review purchase orders and subcontracts to understand and administer the scope.
    • Ensure subcontractors adhere to project schedules and quality standards.
    • Inspect their work for quality and ensure compliance with project specifications and code requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections, enforce quality control standards, and plan corrective actions when needed.
    • Conduct preconstruction meetings with appropriate subcontractors prior to their start in the field.
    • Attend pre-installation meetings with Subcontractors to review contract documents, details, approved submittals, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating inspections with authorities and third-party consultants.
    • Punch list management: identify, track, and verify completion of outstanding items.
    • Assist with preparing the project for turnover, ensuring all work is completed per contract.
  • Maintain good relationships with inspectors, architects, subcontractors, owners/clients, and other key people personnel associated with the project.

Qualifications

  • A strong work ethic and “can-do” attitude.
  • Education & Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer, Asst. Project Manager/Superintendent on high quality fast-paced projects.
  • Utilize construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project) to manage projects and coordinate team efforts.
  • Excellent listening & communication skills.  A strong desire to learn and grow as a manager of field operations, working under the supervision of a Superintendent or Project Manager
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations & the ability to identify safety hazards and correct immediately.
  • Valid FL driver’s license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, related field and/or related field experience.
