100% of entry fees will go to the School of Architecture Excellence Fund which supports student excellence, including assistantships, scholarships, and student support.

Program
Launched in 2025 to celebrate our SoA Centennial, the University of Florida School of Architecture Alumni Design Awards were created to recognize design excellence with the University of Florida Architecture and Design Alumni Community.
Any B. Des, M.Arch, or MSAS graduate from UF’s School of Architecture is eligible to submit projects for the 2026 UF SoA Design Awards. Awards for winning designs will be presented at the awards ceremony in January. These projects will be on exhibition at the Florida Design Conference Architecture Record Reception and Exhibition on January 22, 2027, featured in the DCP alumni magazine, on this website, and through social media. Submissions must be anonymous during the review process.
Use of Funds
100% of entry fees will go to the University of Florida School of Architecture Excellence Fund which supports student excellence.
Eligibility
Any B. Des, M.Arch, or MSAS graduate from UF’s School of Architecture is eligible to submit projects for the 2026 UF SoA Alumni Design Awards. Only alumni who submit an entry will be eligible to receive the award. Projects must have been completed within 5 years of entry deadline.
Deadline
September 7, 2026, 11:59:59 PM ET
Fees
$100 for first submission, $75 for each subsequent submission.
Additional donations are encouraged. 100% of entry fees will go to the School of Architecture Excellence Fund which supports student excellence, including assistantships, scholarships, and student support.
Payment Notice
Payment for submission must be received by September 7, 2026, to be eligible for award.
Recognition
The 2026 SoA Alumni Design Awards Presentation is January 21, 2027. Awarded projects will be on exhibition at the Florida Design Conference Architecture Record Reception and Exhibition on January 22, 2027, featured in the DCP alumni magazine, on this website, and through social media. Winners will receive an Award Plaque (additional plaques available at $75 each).
Jury
Josephine Minutillo
Josephine Minutillo is editor in chief of Architectural Record. Trained as an architect, she began writing for RECORD in 2001 while practicing architecture and has held several positions at the magazine over the past two decades. Josephine Minutillo has a diverse work experience in the architecture and design industry. Josephine started her career as an Assistant Architect at the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development in 2002. Josephine then worked as a Project Manager at Douglas J. Lister, Architect from 2003 to 2008. In 2008, she joined McGraw-Hill Construction as a Senior Editor for Architectural Record. Her articles have appeared in many international publications. She has been an invited critic at Washington University in St. Louis, The Cooper Union, Columbia GSAPP, Pratt Institute, The City College of New York, and Yale University.
Valery Augustin
Valéry Augustin is the founding principal of DNA Architecture +Design, Inc. Prior to launching DNA Architecture + Design, Valery associated professionally with Frederick Fisher and Partners Architects in Los Angeles, Swanke Hayden Connell Architects in London, and Oppenheim Architecture and Design in Miami. His design experience covers a wide range of project types including museums, airports, art galleries, restaurants, multi-family housing, and private residences.
Actively engaged in the design profession as a practitioner and educator, he is an Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Southern California School of Architecture. Valéry’s work has been exhibited at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in North Carolina, the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., and galleries in Los Angeles and Miami. He has served as a symposium panelist, lecturer, and competition juror in Los Angeles and at institutions across the U.S. He has been featured on CNN, Architectural Digest and additional publications and media outlets. Valery is a licensed architect in California, Florida and Texas.
Gaëtan Penhuel
Gaëtan Le Penhuel is a French architect and the founding principal of Le Penhuel & Associés, a Paris-based practice established in 1994, bringing together around 25 architects. Under his leadership, the firm has developed a diverse portfolio of public and private projects, including educational facilities, housing, offices, cultural, sports and healthcare buildings, as well as mixed-use developments and large-scale urban projects.
His work is driven by a commitment to creating architecture that enhances everyday life through refined forms, clear and generous spaces, and a strong sensitivity to context. Environmental responsibility is central to the practice, with a focus on low-carbon design, material life cycles, and the reuse of resources. Working closely with engineers, landscape architects and other specialist partners, Le Penhuel & Associés develops innovative and sustainable architectural solutions that combine technical excellence with architectural quality.
Alongside his professional practice, Gaëtan Le Penhuel has also pursued an academic career, teaching architecture and mentoring final-year architecture students at schools of architecture in Paris.
Anne Marie Duvall Decker
Anne Marie Duvall Decker, FAIA, is a founding principal of Duvall Decker Architects, an expanded practice in Jackson, Mississippi, that provides architecture, development consulting, and facilities maintenance services. Anne Marie sees architecture as instrument, engaging the material phenomena of our environment and culture to create the potential for education and growth. She leads the studio in creating elusive forms and engaging spaces, no matter the type, size, or budget of projects.She has served the profession in many capacities, as a long-term board member and past president of AIA Mississippi and as a Trustee and 2021 Chair of the AIA Trust. Anne Marie is often invited to share her experience as a lecturer, critic, visiting professor, and design juror. She was recently appointed to serve the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations as a 2021-2023 Industry Advisory Group peer and was awarded the 2023 Mississippi State University College of Architecture, Art, & Design Alumna of the Year Recipient. In 2023, Anne Marie Duvall Decker was a recipient of Architectural Record’s Women in Architecture Design Leadership Award. In 2025, Duvall Decker was selected to feature their work in PORCH: An Architecture of Generosity, the U.S. Pavilion exhibition at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
Katherine Hogan
Katherine Hogan, FAIA is principal and co-owner of Katherine Hogan Architects, based in Raleigh, North Carolina. As architect and educator, Katherine approaches each project with the belief that good design can happen at any scale and budget. Throughout her career, she has worked on projects of various scales and typologies, including institutional, commercial, and residential projects. Her firm has crafted a diverse body of work and has received AIA awards at the local, state, and national levels for innovative design solutions to complex problems and for using ordinary materials in inventive ways. The portfolio represents a fresh, distinctive approach to design that balances craft, making, and implementation of architecture.
Katherine Hogan Architects was recently recognized as a 2023 Emerging Voices by the Architectural League of New York and 2024 Best of Practice -Southeast by the Architects Newspaper. The firm was also included in the 2025 US Pavilion at the International Biennale Architettura di Venezia—PORCH: An Architecture of Generosity. Katherine Hogan Architects’ work is currently exhibited at the National Building Museum as part of a show entitled A SOUTH FORTY. The exhibit includes 40 regional firms and aims to provide an overview of the current vitality of contemporary architecture and design in the American South.
Elizabeth Pagliacolo
Elizabeth Pagliacolo is the Editor in Chief at Azure magazine. She is a National Magazine Award–winning writer and editor, and has reported on design fairs around the world, covered prominent architecture projects, and delved into new trends and technologies, from the emergence of LEDs to the evolution of sustainable concrete. She has also interviewed the leading lights of modern architecture and design, such as Patricia Urquiola, Lawrence Scarpa and Walter Hood, and participated on design juries in Toronto and New York. From 2016 to 2017, she was the Director of Programming for EDIT: Expo for Design, Innovation and Technology, a 10-day festival produced by the Design Exchange, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme. At Azure, she leads the editorial team in conceptualizing and producing six print issues a year, helps organize the AZ Awards, and guides the content programming of Human/Nature, AZURE’s climate conference inaugurated in 2024.
