UF Planning Program Ranks Top 25 in United States
Planetizen ranks the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program at the University of Florida as a Top 25 planning program in the country – and Top 6 in the South.

The University of Florida’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning proudly announces that its Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program has secured an impressive position – ranking in the top 25 of planning programs in the United States according to Planetizen’s 7th edition of its Guide to Graduate Urban Planning Programs. This recognition marks a significant milestone for the program, solidifying its status as a leading institution in the field of urban planning education. This ranking is accompanied by two more impressive recognitions: Top 25 According to Educators and the #6 planning program in the Southern region.

With a rich history spanning more than 50 years and a legacy of producing more than 750 graduates, the University of Florida’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning is honored to receive this recognition from Planetizen, a respected authority in the urban planning industry. The Department is home to the nation’s first and only accredited online MURP program, which now has more than 100 high-impact graduates across the last 11 years.
The 7th Edition of Planetizen’s Guide to Graduate Urban Planning Programs, recently released, provides a comprehensive ranking of the top 25 master’s programs in urban planning, city planning, regional planning, and community planning. This latest edition of the guide represents an extensive data collection effort, encompassing information from 69 participating programs and input from hundreds of educators.
Faculty attribute the MURP program’s ongoing success to: a significant increase in faculty publications and research; a strong employment rate of graduates in planning-related jobs; ongoing student recruitment and retention initiatives; notable student achievements and awards; and the growth and success of the MURP program’s online delivery mode.
