This scholarship is awarded to students who are dedicated to promoting the advancement of social equity in the field of urban planning and within communities.

Victoria Fountain is currently an intern with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
“I am deeply grateful to the American Planning Association for the 2025 APA Fountain Diversity Scholarship, which supports my journey as a Master’s of Urban and Regional Planning student at the University of Florida. Researching historically disinvested communities is the reason I am passionate about planning and I am very appreciative for this recognition. I am committed to addressing disparities by expanding economic opportunities, increasing affordable housing, and ensuring minority communities are represented in planning decisions. This scholarship allows me to continue pursuing my goal of becoming a planner in Atlanta, Georgia.”
Edgar Medero is currently an Interim Principal Planner at the Village of Palmetto Bay.
“It is hard to convey in words just how grateful I am to be one of the talented recipients of this honor. I am currently the Principal Planner at the Village of Palmetto Bay where I am proud to serve a community that is working towards expanding its sustainability standards. I am proud of my record of working in the public sector as a civil servant for communities that I am able to learn from and work for.”
