MURP Graduates Achieve 100% Pass Rate on AICP Exam

All 23 recent Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning graduates have passed the AICP examination. The AICP exam’s pass rate in the state of Florida is 58%, and 66% nationally, putting MURP graduates well above the standard.

Instructional Assistant Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator Laura Dedenbach congratulated graduates on this significant achievement.

“While we are always above the state and national pass rates, this achievement is a testament to the quality of our MURP program,” said Dedenbach. “Congratulations to our graduates!”

For recent graduates entering the planning field, passing the AICP exam and becoming AICP certified shows employers that they have the qualifications to be a successful planner and have mastered the necessary skills to be successful in the field.

Beyond gaining an advantage in the hiring process, becoming AICP certified also increases the salary outlook for planners entering the field while ensuring that they demonstrate a dedication to ethical standards of practice.

Instructional Assistant Professor and MURP Online Program Director Kyle Dost said the department has been working hard to prep students for success.

“In addition to high-quality courses that directly relate to the AICP exam (e.g. Planning Theory and History, Land Use Planning Law, Planning Administration and Ethics), our department has enhanced its AICP prep opportunities for our students,” said Dost. “MURP students at UF have access to a curated AICP Resources preparation shell, close connections to local APA Sections like San Felasco and Sun Coast, student-led study groups, and supportive AICP and FAICP faculty. We are so proud of our students, their planning aptitude, and their forthcoming contributions to the planning field as AICP-certified planners!”
