URP alumnus Howard Nelson has officially opened the Howard and Gayle Nelson Studio and Seminar Room.
After Nelson cut the ribbon, everyone entered the studio to learn more about how the renovated space in the Fine Arts C building is being used.
URP students demonstrated the advanced classroom technology, showing how four devices can show their displays at one time on the large screen at the front of the studio. This allows students to easily collaborate on multiple projects or aspects of the same project without the need to crowd around individual computers. The technology also allows online students to work in partnership with on-campus students. In addition, professionals serving as guest lecturers or jurors can connect virtually and provide feedback on projects.
The adjacent seminar room has a large touchscreen monitor mounted on the wall for presentations, a large conference room, and comfortable chairs. The seminar room also offers teleconferencing and wireless connections to the presentation equipment.
