AI and Cities: An International Forum for Innovation and Collaboration
We are excited to invite you to the inaugural AI and Cities: An International Forum for Innovation and Collaboration, to be held on May 9-10, 2025 online. This Forum aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore the transformative potential and challenges of AI in transforming and reinventing cities. It aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and build a global alliance to promote the responsible and innovative use of AI in developing resilient, sustainable, smarter cities.
Background
Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a pivotal technology driving the development of smart cities. AI’s integration into urban planning, design, construction, and administration is revolutionizing how cities are planned, designed, built, and managed. By leveraging data-driven insights and advanced algorithms, AI offers more opportunities for informed decision-making, predictive modeling, and participatory processes to optimize urban forms, strengthen urban infrastructure, and enhance overall city management and administration.
Despite its potential, the integration of AI in urban development presents several challenges. These include ethical concerns, data privacy issues, the digital/AI divide, societal impacts, and governance issues. Addressing these challenges requires a collaborative effort from all stakeholders and across disciplines to ensure that AI technologies are developed and deployed responsibly and inclusively.
The AI and Cities: An International Forum for Innovation and Collaboration aims to tackle these challenges and harness the transformative power of AI for urban development. By bringing together experts from various fields, the forum seeks to facilitate knowledge exchange, foster innovation, and promote best practices for addressing complex urban challenges through AI technologies.
