URP Department Announces New Urban Analytics Certificate
The interdisciplinary Certificate in Urban Analytics is designed to focus on a more systematic understanding human behaviors and interactions with urban policies and the built environment, as well as how cities function by analyzing big urban data.

The UF Department of Urban & Regional Planning is excited to announce and offer a new on-campus Graduate Certificate in Urban Analytics for current and prospective students.
Students who enroll in courses involved in the program will learn to use new data science and Artificial Intelligent (AI) techniques, such as data mining, Machine Learning (ML), deep learning and other AI approaches to understand how humans interact with urban spaces.
A total of 15 credit hours is required to complete the certificate. Depending on the student’s background, there are two options:
- Students with background in Urban and Regional Planning and related programs will
take primarily ML and AI courses. - Students who have knowledge about ML and AI methods will take planning and spatial analysis course.
The approximate cost is $9,390 for Florida Residents and $20,261 for non-Florida Residents. There are five total courses and the certificate can be completed in two semesters.
Applicants must have an accredited bachelor’s degree, minimum 3.0 upper-level courses GPA, resume or CV, and English proficiency. No GRE is required to apply. Application deadline is November 29, 2021
