Internship Supervisor Evaluations

All MURP students are required to complete an internship, which they do typically after their first year of the program. While students can meet the internship requirement in the fall, spring, or summer semesters, most choose to complete the internship in summer semesters. A total of 33 MURP students completed an internship in the 2024 – 2025 academic year.

In 2024-25, a total of 7 on-campus students completed an internship. Of the 7 campus students who completed internships, 5 were reported as paid work. The average employer evaluation rating was 4.53 on a scale of 1 to 5, where 5 is excellent and 1 indicates unsatisfactory and improvement is needed.

A total of 26 online students completed an internship. Of the 26 students who completed internships, 22 were reported as paid work. The average employer evaluation rating was 4.93 on a scale of 1 to 5, where 5 is excellent and 1 indicates unsatisfactory and improvement is needed.

Alumni Satisfaction

An online alumni survey conducted in 2025 with 56 alumni responding found that over 85% were either very satisfied or satisfied regarding how well the program prepared them for their initial job.  An additional 7% indicated a neutral response to the question.  An additional question of the respondents asked them how satisfied they were with the department’s curriculum as it prepared them to confront issues in the planning profession.  Of the 56 who responded to this question, 93% were satisfied or highly satisfied with the department’s curriculum.
