Dr. Jules Bruck and Architecture Professor Jeff Carney to Discuss Nature-based Solutions with Sanibel Residents

Dr. Jules Bruck, Chair of the UF Department of Landscape Architecture, alongside Professor Jeff Carney from the UF School of Architecture, will be hosting a discussion on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) with residents of Sanibel Island on January 5, 2026 at 6:30 PM at the Sanibel Community House.

The discussion will serve as a chance for residents to understand how climate change, strengthening storms, and the loss of natural habitats affect flood risk and damage to coastal communities. The meeting will focus on the implementation of Nature-based Solutions, which utilize natural materials and processes to combat these ever-increasing risks.

Professor Carney serves as director of the Florida Institute for Built Environment Resilience (FIBER), while Dr. Bruck’s research specialization centers on coastal resilience.

The event is free, but registration is required. Register here.
