Preservation Institute Nantucket Summer 2022 Final Projects
Project Assignment: PIN2022 students have selected past PIN projects as inspiration for their work this summer. Through assessment of the past projects, students have determined the historical context framing the project and what might be missing when viewed through the lens of contemporary preservation ethic and practice. Students will present their project research and new proposals, considering how a re-assessment of past projects can illustrate the evolution of preservation as a discipline and, more specifically, preservation on Nantucket. PIN projects have illustrated critical preservation concerns over the past fifty years; how can these projects inform where preservation is headed? We respectfully ask for and encourage public participation in these discussions as we use this celebratory summer to consider the future direction of preservation research and community engagement for the next fifty years of PIN.
