Possible Tracks
There are three tracks available for the Master of Interior Design (MID):
This track is intended for students with a bachelor’s degree in interior design or a related field with an architectural foundation. Graduates of CIDA-accredited programs are considered prepared for direct entry. Applicants from comparable or non-CIDA-accredited programs may also qualify based on a review of their academic background, portfolio, and prior coursework during the application review process. Limited leveling coursework may be recommended to address specific gaps. The program requires approximately 36 graduate credit hours and is typically completed in two years.
Designed for students with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than design. This track includes up to 43 credit hours of leveling coursework in addition to the 36 credit hours required for the MID, for a total of up to 79 credit hours. Students typically complete this track in three to three and a half years.
Open to students enrolled in UF’s Bachelor of Design program. This track allows students to apply 12 hours of graduate-level coursework completed during their senior year toward both their undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students must request authorization from the Graduate School by the end of their junior year and submit a formal application to the MID program. Additional graduate credit hours after the senior year bring the total to the 36 credits required for the MID. Students should expect at least one additional year of study after the senior year.
