We See The Future and We Plan It

Aerial view of a city neighborhood in blue tones above a quote: “Planning is a profession with no limits” by Lian Plass. Below, text highlights diverse careers for planning students, paired with an orange map graphic.
A blue-tinted profile of a bearded man in a suit faces right. Next to him, bold blue text reads Transforming a Sustainable Tropical Metropolis, with orange lines highlighting Sustainable and Tropical Metropolis.

Jerry’s career spans both the private and public sectors of the planning profession and has helped him gain an understanding of the proper way to balance the many, and often opposing, viewpoints that offer solutions to planning problems. His education and experiences at UF have instilled a comprehensive, holistic approach to problem-solving.

“As planners, it’s fulfilling to be able to identify an issue, analyze it, and then prescribe policy solutions that we can see make an impact.”

A blue and orange graphic shows a woman in profile facing right with the text “Preserving Our Coastlines with a View From Space” overlaid beside her.

As the Assistant Master Planner for the Kennedy Space Center and NASA, Jennifer is involved in a process that encompasses all aspects of the planning field, but especially those that help NASA reach its goals of expanding access to space.

“The future is open and as planners, we have the power to bring people together.”

A woman in profile looks right toward bold text that reads Planning is a Profession with No Limits, with orange lines emphasizing parts of the text. The background features a faint, abstract map pattern.

Lian’s work centers around the idea that the planning field can bridge the gap between optimal and efficient solutions and the solutions that work with the imperfections of humanity.

“There is not a single place that you can go in the state of Florida where you will not run into a planner with a UF degree. Those connections are incredibly helpful not just from a professional development standpoint, but also from a personal standpoint.”
