Gifts, no matter their size, generally fall into two categories: outright gifts, planned, or deferred gifts. An outright gift is just that—something you give immediately and directly. It can be as simple as an online gift through the website or as unique as donating a piece of real property or art. It all depends on what you’d like to do or help UF accomplish. A few examples of outright gifts include:
- Online gifts
- Rinker Brick Program
- Tangible assets (such as books, art, etc.)
- Expendable (or non-endowed) gifts
- Endowments
- Naming opportunities
- Corporate match
- Stocks and other securities
- Donor-advised funds
- IRA Rollover Gifts
Planned or deferred gifts, on the other hand, are gifts that require some planning, are tax-advantaged and may be deferred. Such gifts include bequests or other estate commitments, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities and gifts of insurance. Visit the Gift Planning pages for more detailed information on planned or contact Seth Watts, at sethwatts@dcp.ufl.edu or 352-294-1422.
