From the Swamp to the Steel City: UF URP at ACSP 2026<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Faculty and students from the University of Florida Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) traveled to Pittsburgh earlier this month for the 66th Annual Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) Conference<\/a>. The conference brought together planning students and educators from across the country to discuss developments in the field, share research and collaborate on improving planning education. The Department also hosted an alumni reception and a career information session, giving faculty and students the chance to network with alumni and industry professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highlight of the trip was a tour of the historic Chatham Village, organized by Dr. Kristin Larsen, FAICP. Designated a National Historic Landmark, the development remains a model of community design. Dr. Larsen was joined by Kyle Dost, AICP, Dr. Cleary Larkin, Dr. Michael A.N. Montilla, and alumna Dr. Tyeshia Redden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

URP faculty and students presented on topics ranging from planning career mobility, high-speed rail and transportation planning to online learning, artificial intelligence in the planning curriculum and cultural heritage in Florida. Highlights include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
