As a result, UF provides a framework for an individual in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning to pursue a concurrent degree with any other master\u2019s program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Combination &#8211; Concurrent Degree<\/strong><br>A concurrent degree program is simultaneous study on an individualized basis that leads to two master\u2019s degrees in two different graduate programs or two master\u2019s degrees in the same major. Such a program is initiated by the student and requires prior approval of each academic unit and the Graduate School. If the student is approved to pursue two master\u2019s degrees, up to 9 credits of course work from one degree program may be applied toward the second master\u2019s degree, thereby allowing both degrees to be completed in less time. The forms required for approval of the concurrent program and petition for acceptance of nine credits of coursework in a second master\u2019s program<a href=\"https:\/\/grad.ufl.edu\/media\/gradufledu\/pdf\/concurrent.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/grad.ufl.edu\/media\/gradufledu\/pdf\/concurrent.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In particular, planning students with a serious interest in transportation are encouraged to apply for a concurrent degree program in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.institute.ufl.edu\/education\/transportation-engineering-graduate-program\/\">Transportation Engineering<\/a> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essie.ufl.edu\/departments\/civil_and_coastal_engineering\/\">Department of Civil &amp; Coastal Engineering<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Combination &#8211; Nontraditional Doctoral\/Master&#8217;s Degree<\/strong><br>A nontraditional doctoral\/master&#8217;s combination degree program is a program of study when a UF student already admitted to a Ph.D. program wants to pursue, at the same time, a master\u2019s degree outside of the student\u2019s Ph.D. academic unit.
