MURP student Matthew Mullings <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UF Department of Urban and Regional Planning recently held a design competition where students were tasked with creating a logo for the department\u2019s 50th anniversary, a milestone being celebrated this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MURP student Matthew Mullings, who also serves as Vice President of the UF Student Planning Association, was selected as the winner, with a design that merges the spirit of UF with the world of urban planning.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo me, urban planning is best represented by a cityscape,\u201d said Mullings. \u201cKeeping with the UF brand, I surrounded the gator with blue to make it seem like he\u2019s swimming in front of this city skyline, and then added orange to flesh the rest out.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mullings\u2019 logo will be used across URP throughout 2025 to celebrate the department\u2019s 50th anniversary and commemorate the accomplishments of the department over the years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked to reflect on his experience being a URP student, Mullings said his time here has been invaluable to his future career. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDue to the tight-knit nature of the program, I\u2019ve been able to form really impactful connections with professors and alumni, many of whom are leaders in the planning field,\u201d said Mullings. \u201cThe curriculum of the program allowed for in-depth learning, and the support system created by the department to assist students with whatever they might need is something I\u2019m truly grateful for.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the department gears up to celebrate its 50th anniversary, it plans to highlight accomplishments by faculty and alumni that have contributed to its success over the years.
