Program in Sustainability and the Built Environment

Mission, Vision, and Goals

Mission:

To create a learning collaborative for students, faculty, and industry to foster sustainability leadership and stewardship through participation in applied projects that address sustainability through the planning, design, construction, and operation of green buildings.

Vision:

To add to the preeminence of our sustainability and the built environment program by providing students with the opportunity to gain marketable skills and knowledge through hands-on projects focused on green buildings.

Goals:

  1. To provide students the opportunity to participate in applied sustainability projects focused on green
  2. To allow for student mentoring by industry
  3. To develop marketable skills through hands-on experience for the green job
  4. To promote leadership in sustainability and the built

Organization:

An Industry Advisory Board will direct and participate in the GBLC.

An annual report on the activities of the GBLC will be shared with its Industry Advisory Board and the Sustainability and the Built Environment Governing Board.

Student Involvement:

Students will participate in the GBLC program presented by the board every fall an spring semester to hear about the latest in the industry and internships and job opportunities.
