rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usgbc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">United States Green Building Council<\/a> (USGBC) <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usgbc.org\/articles?Channels=%5B%22Center%20for%20Green%20Schools%22%5D\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Green Schools<\/a> published a story about, and interview with, SBE Program Director, Bahar Armaghani and her DCP 4214 &gt; Green Building Strategies (i.e., LEED Lab) course in the University of Florida College of Design, Construction, and Planning. A taste of the story is excerpted below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerforgreenschools.org\/impact#leed-lab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LEED\u00ae Lab\u2122<\/a>\u00a0isn\u2019t your typical college course. The LEED Lab course goes far beyond just giving students an understanding of basic concepts and actually prepares them to land the competitive 21st\u00a0century careers they want\u2014and to succeed in them. In LEED Lab, students participate in the entire LEED for Building Operations and Maintenance (LEED O+M) process, choosing one building on their campus that they work toward certifying themselves. In the process, students master green building concepts, gain hands-on experience and learn valuable skills applicable to any professional field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usgbc.org\/organizations\/university-florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Florida<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usgbc.org\/people\/bahar-armaghani\/0000003377\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bahar Armaghani<\/a>, LEED Fellow, LEED Faculty has seen firsthand the success stories that LEED Lab generates. Bahar is a professor at the College of Design, Construction and Planning, and also the Director of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/sustainability\/green-building-collaborative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Green Building Learning Collaborative<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Florida (UF). In the fall of 2014, Bahar started the first LEED Lab course at UF, aiming to bridge the gap between the education and operation arms of the university, and to make UF a laboratory for learning.
