Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management<\/a> Career Fair held Wednesday morning at the Stephen C. O\u2019Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis event is almost like a big homecoming for us,\u201d Rinker Director <a href=\"https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/faculties\/robert-f-cox\/\">Dr. Robert F. Cox<\/a> said. \u201cIt is very important because it provides the opportunities for our students to continue to impact the construction industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coming from as far as Texas for the event, the 100-plus companies recruited Rinker students from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., before giving way to individual interviews at the recruiters\u2019 invitation from 1 to 5 p.m. Filling up the entire floor of the venue, many UF graduates returned home to hire the next group of Gator greats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mark Freeman\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gTFUMObQvqY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe success of the career fair stems from alumni involvement,\u201d Rinker senior <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/aidan-mcgurl\/\">Aidan McGurl<\/a> said. \u201cWe have very active alumni that love to give back and provide opportunities for us students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/caroline-montgomery-425704205\/\">Caroline Montgomery<\/a> is one of those who has benefitted from said involvement. As a Rinker freshman in Spring 2019, she attended the career fair just to get experience in being comfortable in such a social setting. Two weeks later, she had an internship offer from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eagleofva.com\/\">Eagle Construction of Virginia<\/a>. She went up to Richmond in Summer 2019, fell in love with the company, and interned with them <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=271270971508202\">again in the summer of 2021<\/a>. Following her graduation this past fall, she was offered and accepted a job as a project manager with the company. Montgomery returned to the O\u2019Connell Center this past week as a recruiter, looking for the next version of herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRinker does a phenomenal job of getting companies to come in year-round and speak to students, so when you see them at the career fair, I don\u2019t feel like there are any strangers here,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/brookelyn-gerush-63a01a171\/\">Brookelyn Gerush<\/a>, who will be graduating from Rinker this fall. \u201cThis is my fourth time attending the career fair and at this point it feels like one big family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recruiters agree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvery year we come back to Gainesville, we have a better experience than the year before,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/amanda-lentini-003a56190\/\">Amanda Lentini<\/a>, a talent recruiter for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deangelisdiamond.com\/\">DeAngelis Diamond<\/a>. \u201cThe great students Rinker provides gets us hyped up for the next career fair.
