Dr. Bryan Franz is seeking PhD applicants for a funded Graduate Research Assistant position in M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management at the University of Florida.  The selected applicant will work alongside Dr. Franz to model and analyze the project networks needed to support resilient, human-robot teams on industrialized construction sites.  The position will be a 12-month appointment, renewable for up to two additional years (three years total).  The expected start date is January 1, 2020.  To apply, please send an email to Dr. Franz (bfranz@ufl.edu) with a current CV and statement of research interests.  Applicants will be reviewed as they are received and will be accepted until the position has been filled.


  • Prepare data collection instruments, collect and analyze network data
  • Present research progress and outcomes
  • Lead the writing and editing of peer-reviewed publications related to the research
  • Assist in developing new research proposals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other graduate students at the University of Florida and other institutions
  • Willingness to learn necessary programming skills for managing large and diverse data sets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience writing peer-reviewed publications and presenting research at academic or professional conferences
  • Understanding of social network theory and experience with network analysis software, such as UCINET and/or Organization Risk Analyzer (ORA)
