The M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management, along with the College of Design, Construction and Planning, announces the appointment of Dr. Raymond Issa as Interim Director of the Rinker School of Construction Management. Dr. Issa’s tenure is effective as of July 1, 2017.
Dr. Issa has been with the Rinker School as faculty since 1992. Currently, he is a Holland Professor and the Director of the Center for Advanced Construction Information Modeling. Dr. Issa is also the Editor-in-Chief of the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, Vice President for North America of the Pan American Association of Engineering Societies (UPADI), Vice Chair of the International Society for Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (ISCCBE), and the Chair of Academic Interoperability Coalition. In addition, Dr. Issa serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and various other professional and civic organizations.
Dr. Issa holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University and J.D. from Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis.
Dr. Issa takes over from Dr. Robert Ries whose 6-year tenure as Director of the Rinker School ended on June 30, 2017. Dr. Ries will remain in the school as a professor. Dr. Edward Minchin will assist Dr. Issa in the new role of Interim Associate Director. A search for the permanent Director will take place during the 2017 – 2018 academic year.
