DCP Visits Alumni and Friends in Denver

Finally Dean Chimay Anumba has come back to Denver. And he brought the DCP Advancement Team with him to visit alumni and friends for a reception at BurnDown. The event was sponsored by PCL, Layton Construction, Wonderstruct Construction and Belay.

“It is a pleasure to come to Denver and meet alumni that we don’t get to see very often,” Dean Anumba said. “In addition to seeing old friends, we are able to make new ones out here and see how DCP alumni are shaping the Mile High City and other parts of the state of Colorado.”

The event venue, Burndown, is known for group dining, live music and unparalleled mountain views. It is housed in a 1940s storefront and is an architecturally unique venue which centers around a light-filled atrium that spans three stories, connecting full-service dining and an all-day lounge to acoustic stages, an open-air courtyard and an iconic roof deck.

The DCP party was on the second floor of the venue amidst the raucous crowd of locals cheering on their favorite hockey team, the Colorado Avalanche, in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It made for quite the festive atmosphere for the event that hosted local alumni and friends.

“As a UF DCP alum now growing my career in Denver, I get very excited for any opportunity to bring our incredible alumni group together, and especially in a city that is so far from Florida,” Jesse Meyer (BSBC ’09), PCL Operations Manager, said. “This common bond we share is a special one and I want to help make it easy for new UF DCP connections to be made here in the Rocky Mountain region!”

The trip was such a success that the Denver alumni are now looking to start fundraising activities such as a golf tournament or clay shoot that benefits the college. We can’t wait to see that happen and look forward to seeing all our Denver alumni and friends again next year!
