Stone Jr. Lecture Series"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/landscape\/edward-d-stone-jr-lecture-series\/\">The Edward D. Stone, Jr. Lecture Series<\/a> has been a key part of the University of Florida\u2019s Landscape Architecture program, fostering intellectual conversation and engagement with practitioners for the past decade. Since its inception in 2015, the series has brought leading voices in landscape architecture and urban design to share their insights and experiences with students, faculty, and professionals.&nbsp;This series has been made possible by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MpVDkB2TCps\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MpVDkB2TCps\">Edward D. Stone Jr. Friends Group<\/a>, a group of friends and colleagues whose efforts have preserved his legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tclf.org\/pioneer\/edward-stone-jr\">Edward Stone, Jr<\/a>., the lecture series\u2019 namesake, founded the renowned firm<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edsaplan.com\/\"> EDSA<\/a> (Edward D Stone Jr. and Associates), which has helped shape the practice of landscape architecture in Florida and around the globe.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edsaplan.com\/portfolio\/\"> EDSA\u2019s work<\/a> spans urban design, parks and public projects, hospitality and tourism, campus planning, as well as commercial and mixed-use development.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, the firm has been a strong supporter of the department, reinforcing its commitment to the next generation of landscape architects.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-image uagb-block-cbfb56ad wp-block-uagb-image--layout-default wp-block-uagb-image--effect-static wp-block-uagb-image--align-none\"><figure class=\"wp-block-uagb-image__figure\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/landscape\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2025\/02\/Screenshot-2025-02-12-at-6.14.10\u202fPM-1024x614.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"uag-image-10071\" width=\"1248\" height=\"748\" title=\"Screenshot 2025-02-12 at 6.14.10\u202fPM\" loading=\"lazy\" role=\"img\" \/><figcaption class=\"uagb-image-caption\">Image Credit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edsaplan.com\/the-firm\/legacy\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.edsaplan.com\/the-firm\/legacy\/\">Ed Stone, in &#8220;The Legacy &#8211; Origins of an Icon&#8221; by EDSA<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The inaugural lecture, hosted in 2015, featured a panel of speakers including: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/chaffinlight.com\/about\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/chaffinlight.com\/about\">Jim Chaffin<\/a> &#8211; Friend, Co-founder of Chaffin-Light Associates preeminent developers of master-planned communities in the United States, former Chairman of the Urban Land Institute.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_Rummell\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_Rummell\">Peter Rummell<\/a> &#8211; Friend, former Chairman of Disney Development Company and former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the St. Joe Company. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harthowerton.com\/people\/leadership\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.harthowerton.com\/people\/leadership\/\">Dave Howerton<\/a> &#8211; Friend, Chairman of Hart Howerton. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peter Capone &#8211; Friend, Architect, former President of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edsaplan.com\/the-firm\/legacy\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.edsaplan.com\/the-firm\/legacy\/\">Edward Durell Stone Architects<\/a>, President and CEO of Peter Capone Design. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecture series has hosted a diverse array of speakers, including practitioners, scholars, and other leaders who have challenged conventional wisdom and expanded the discourse on sustainability, resilience, and the future of landscape architecture.
