Dr. Belinda Nettles Named Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) Liaison for ASLA Florida Chapter

Dr. Belinda Nettles, Assistant Scholar with the University of Florida’s Center for Landscape Conservation Planning and Department of Landscape Architecture was recently named Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) liaison for the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Florida Chapter.
HALS was founded in 2000 with the goal of recognizing the importance of American landscapes and the role they play in historic preservation. It advocates for the preservation of varying landscapes including public spaces, gardens, agricultural sites, and residential neighborhoods. The program is a collaborative effort between the National Park Service, the Library of Congress, and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).
Nettles serves as the link between the ASLA National and Florida chapters and will work with a variety of stakeholders on the identification and documentation of historic and cultural landscapes.
“HALS has benefited from decades of dedicated leadership in Florida, and I am grateful for the foundation that has been laid. It is an honor to continue this work and to support the ongoing efforts to recognize and preserve the landscapes that tell our stories”, said Nettles.
