The 4+1 program enables students to obtain a non-accredited, four-year Bachelors of Design (BDes) degree in landscape architecture with a combined one-year Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) degree.
• The BDes is a 120 credit hour, undergraduate, non-professionally-accredited major in landscape architecture
• The MLA is a 52 credit hour, professionally-accredited major in landscape architecture
• 21 credits are double counted for the combined portion of the degree
• Minimum of a 3.25 GPA
• Minimum of a 300 GRE combined verbal and math score (based on the new scale) or an equivalent of a combined 1100 score (old score)
Students begin by enrolling in the BLA program. In the Spring semester of the BLA third year, students apply to transfer to the 4+1 BDes LA program. The first three years are all undergraduate courses, the fourth year consists of combined undergraduate and graduate courses and the fifth year consists of all graduate courses.
