Apply to UF  make a note of your assigned UFID number; you will need this 8-digit number to check your application status and to access your records.  It will also be your UF student number should you be admitted.

If you meet UF’s minimum admission requirements, and the University of Florida has received all of your information and documents, the registrar will forward your application to the Interior Design department for consideration.  Admission into the interior design department lower division courses will be based on your GPA and on space available within the program.  We will notify you regarding your admission status after we review the applications.

Masters in Design

Our Masters in Design program accepts applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in any field. If you have a design-related degree you will be required to submit a portfolio directly to the department.

What to send to UF Admissions:

–  Transcripts and Degree Certificates from every institution you have attended (transcripts should be in your native language (if not originally in English also with an English translation).  Transcripts should be sent directly from the institution to UF Admissions via the electronic transcript system (not email) or mailed to UF Admissions, PO Box 114000 (201 Criser Hall), Gainesville, FL 32611-4000, USA.

If your institution only provides one original copy of your degree/transcript, please upload a copy of it with your application and bring the originals with you to show to Admissions should you be accepted.

–  GRE scores If you don’t have a Master’s degree (minimum 300 =verbal + quantitative; minimum verbal 140), sent by the testing institution via the ETS to institution Code 5812 or to the Office of Admissions, PO Box 114000 (201 Criser Hall), Gainesville, FL 32611-4000, USA.

–  TOEFL, IELTS or MELAB scores for applicants from countries (including Puerto Rico) where English is not the official language, a minimum score on one of these English Skills tests:

*Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 550 paper, or 80 internet

*International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6

*Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 77

*or documented successful completion of the University of Florida English Language Institute

–  Three Letters of Recommendation

 

                        What to send to the Department of Interior Design:

–  If you are from a design background, a portfolio sent to the department via a pdf to mmatckie@dcp.ufl.edu or sent via WeTransfer https://wetransfer.com

— You have the option of having your letters of recommendation sent to the department directly if the persons asked cannot upload to UF.  (mmatckie@dcp.ufl.edu or https://wetransfer.com )

We do not require any hardcopies.  UF prefers electronic materials whenever possible.

The deadline for International students to apply is February 1, 2018 for the fall 2018 semester.  All other students are encouraged to apply by February 1 as well, but will be considered until April 30, 2018.

Please note that we only accept graduate students for our fall semesters.

 

The department will review your application and contact you to work with you to ensure that your application packet is complete for review by the applications committee.
