High Honors Interior Design, 1986), the Bruno E. and Maritza F. Ramos Collaboratory was not just another major project, but an opportunity to give back to the institution that shaped her career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With decades of experience leading award-winning workplace, hospitality, and residential projects, including WarnerMedia&#8217;s 1.4 million-square-foot headquarters, Lindsay brought to the team a clear objective: to design interiors that would inspire the next generation of designers, architects, planners, and builders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The Collaboratory is truly a labor of love,&#8221; she said, adding that every aspect of the building has been intentionally designed to support creativity, discovery, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The extension to the College of Design, Construction and Planning (DCP) takes the form of a distinctive \u201cGator bite,\u201d creating spaces that respond to the surrounding landscape while encouraging movement, interaction, and exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inside, students encounter an environment where design itself becomes a teacher. The FabLab brings together robotics, digital fabrication, woodworking, metalworking, laser cutting, and 3D printing to support hands-on innovation. The carefully planned collaborative spaces, including the Creative Collision Commons, Social Stairs, meeting rooms, and outdoor maker spaces, encourage both spontaneous conversation and focused research and learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The building&#8217;s materials and furnishings were chosen with great care. Iconic furniture designed by renowned designers such as Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, Charlotte Perriand, Jean Prouv\u00e9, and Carl Hansen serve as a living collection, allowing students to experience timeless design firsthand. The project&#8217;s commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship is reinforced using reclaimed wood from trees that once grew on the site which have been transformed into a reception desk, benches, gallery seating and communal table<s>s<\/s>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Color also plays a strategic role throughout the Collaboratory. Vibrant hues energize collaborative spaces, while cooler tones encourage concentration and reflection. The carefully orchestrated color scheme is not merely decorative; it subtly influences behavior and creates intuitive transitions between social and quiet spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification, the Collaboratory reflects Lindsay&#8217;s belief that exceptional interior design should balance environmental responsibility with human experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project&#8217;s greatest achievement is perhaps its embodiment of &#8220;OneDCP.&#8221; The architect, interior designer, landscape architect, and engineers responsible for the building are UF alumni, demonstrating the collaborative culture that defines DCP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Cat Lindsay, the Ramos Collaboratory embodies her clear and strong design objectives.
