The following deadlines apply each year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\">Preferred application deadline: <strong>January 15<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\">Final deadline for supporting documents: <strong>February 1<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\">Applications received after January 15 will be reviewed on a rolling basis through the spring semester<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"starting-term\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Choosing Your Starting Term<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Applicants who are able to begin their studies in the summer may instead select the <strong>summer<\/strong> term when submitting their application. Applications mistakenly submitted for spring admission will automatically be moved to the next available admission term. Please carefully select the intended starting term, as processing term changes takes additional time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> International applicants who need a student visa must apply for the <strong>fall<\/strong> term and should apply by the <strong>January 15<\/strong> preferred deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"border-bottom-color:#fa4616;border-bottom-width:5px\">Application Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Requirements in this section:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom:1.6em\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><a href=\"#degree-and-gpa\">Degree and GPA<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><a href=\"#application-fee\">Application Fee<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><a href=\"#statement-of-purpose\">Statement of Purpose<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><a href=\"#transcripts\">Transcripts<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><a href=\"#portfolio\">Portfolio (Design Track Consideration)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><a href=\"#letters-of-recommendation\">Letters of Recommendation<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><a href=\"#international-applicants\">Additional Requirements for International Applicants<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><a href=\"#english-proficiency\">English Proficiency<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"degree-and-gpa\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Degree and GPA<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">To meet the <a href=\"https:\/\/gradcatalog.ufl.edu\/graduate\/admission\/\">University of Florida Graduate School<\/a>\u2019s minimum admission requirements, applicants must hold a bachelor\u2019s, graduate, or professional degree from a U.S. institution accredited by a recognized regional accrediting agency or an equivalent degree from an international institution officially recognized by the Ministry of Education in its home country. For international applicants, degrees must be determined to be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor\u2019s, graduate, or professional degree to be recognized by the University of Florida. For applicants with solely a bachelor\u2019s degree, a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) on all coursework completed after the applicant has earned 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"application-fee\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Application Fee<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">A non-refundable application fee is required at the time of submission. This fee is set by the University of Florida Graduate School and must be paid online by credit card through the application system. The fee cannot be waived, except for McNair Scholars (participants in the federal <a href=\"https:\/\/mcnair.aa.ufl.edu\/about\/\">McNair Scholars Program<\/a> at their undergraduate institution), who are eligible for an application fee waiver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"statement-of-purpose\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Statement of Purpose<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Submit a statement describing your motivation for pursuing the Master of Interior Design degree at the University of Florida. Your statement should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);margin-left:40px\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\">Identify your intended area of specialization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\">Explain how your interests align with the research or teaching areas of our faculty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\">Outline your academic and\/or professional goals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Applicants are encouraged to review <a href=\"https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/interior\/faculty-expertise\/\"><strong>Faculty Research Areas<\/strong><\/a> prior to submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"transcripts\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Transcripts<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Applicants must provide transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (excluding the University of Florida).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);margin-left:40px\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\">For application review: Unofficial transcripts are acceptable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\">If admitted: Official transcripts will be required by the Graduate School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"portfolio\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Portfolio (Design Track Consideration)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Applicants with a design-related background, and anyone who wishes to be considered for the Design Track, must submit a portfolio demonstrating their design skills and experience. No specific format or number of projects is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Portfolios must be submitted as a single PDF file, no larger than 10 MB, through the application system under the \u201cOther Upload\u201d section. If your file exceeds this limit, please reduce its size while ensuring that your work remains legible. If you encounter any issues during the upload process, please refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/applyweb.collegenet.support\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360001310127-File-Upload-Issues\">this page<\/a> for assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"letters-of-recommendation\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Letters of Recommendation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Two letters of recommendation are required. Applications will not be considered complete until both letters are received. Letters should be submitted electronically through the application system. Recommenders should be able to speak to your academic ability, professional experience, and\/or potential for graduate study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"international-applicants\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Additional Requirements for International Applicants<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">In addition to the requirements above, international applicants must submit transcripts in the original language and copies of diplomas or degree certificates. Documents not issued in English must be accompanied by certified, literal (word-for-word) English translations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"english-proficiency\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">English Proficiency<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom:1.6em;margin-left:40px\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><strong>TOEFL:<\/strong> 4.5 (minimum of 4.0 across all four subsections). Use school code 5812. Scores must be sent electronically by ETS; the University of Florida does not accept paper or unofficial TOEFL scores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><strong>IELTS:<\/strong> 6.5. Scores must be sent to UF using the IELTS Results Service E-Delivery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:0.5em\"><strong>ELI Exit Certificate:<\/strong> for students who have completed all level 60 courses in the Intensive English Program at the <a href=\"https:\/\/eli.ufl.edu\/academic-information\/\">UF English Language Institute<\/a> in Gainesville.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Applicants from <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.ufl.edu\/apply\/graduate\/international\">select countries where English is an official language<\/a> or who have completed degrees at institutions where English is the language of instruction may be considered for an exemption at the discretion of the department. <a href=\"https:\/\/gradcatalog.ufl.edu\/graduate\/admission\/\">See the full exemption criteria in the Graduate Catalog<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"funding\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"border-bottom-color:#fa4616;border-bottom-width:5px\">Funding and Financial Aid<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Research Assistantships<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left:20px\">Graduate research assistantships are limited and depend on research funding held by individual faculty members. There is no separate application; admitted students are considered as positions become available, based on alignment with faculty projects, academic performance, and relevant experience.
