These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cultural Resource Survey of North Port\nSt. Joe: Practicum Course (Marty Hylton &amp; Linda Stevenson, Historic\nPreservation Program)<\/li><li>Resilience, Well-being and Natural\nResource Reliance in the Greater Port St. Joe Region (Richard Stepp,\nAnthropology; Tim Murtha, Landscape Architecture; Maddie Brown, FIBER\nPostdoctoral Associate)<\/li><li>Building Trust Through Stories in Port St. Joe (Jason von Meding, Rinker School of Construction\nManagement; Colin Smith, Psychology)<\/li><li>Planning for Resilient Community: Rural Tourism and\nHome-sharing in Port St. Joe: Dissertation (Lori Pennington-Gray, Tourism,\nHospitality &amp; Event Management; Yuhua Xu, Doctoral Researcher)<\/li><li>Building a Resilient\nUrban Park System in Port St. Joe: Landscape Architecture Studio and\nDissertation (Yi Luo, Landscape Architecture; Kanglin Chen, Doctoral Researcher)<\/li><li>An IoT-Enabled\nCritical Infrastructure Information Network (ICI-IN) for a Future Resilient\nCity (Rui Liu, Rinker School of\nConstruction Management; Xiao Yu &amp; Xilei Zhao, Civil and Coastal Engineering)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/frc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2020\/03\/IMG_1696-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1136\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/frc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2020\/03\/IMG_1696-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/frc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2020\/03\/IMG_1696-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/frc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2020\/03\/IMG_1696-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/frc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2020\/03\/IMG_1696-1-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/frc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2020\/03\/IMG_1696-1-2048x1152.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The FRC funding is also supporting the Florida\nClimate Institute\u2019s Spring Break Field Course and the Advanced Modular Multi-Family Housing Design studio,\ncentered on designing a modular housing unit for six sites in the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, January 13, the FRC team and affiliate researchers held\na kick-off meeting for Spring 2020 projects and courses based in Port St. Joe,\na small city on the panhandle recovering after 2018\u2019s Hurricane Michael.\nPrincipal Investigators met with local stakeholders to begin site visits,\norganize interviews and opportunities for data gathering. Participants included\nlocal and county government leaders, neighborhood representatives, arts and\nculture organizations, developers, real estate agents, housing and\nenvironmental non-profits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coursework and research projects will be visiting and working\nin Port St. Joe throughout the semester. The FCI Field Course will be in Port\nSt. Joe during Spring Break, focusing on four-five design thinking projects.\nThese students will present their projects to the community at the end of the\nweek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The one-year program\nwill culminate a community presentation over the summer and an implementation\nsummit held in early fall of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Port St. Joe is the\nfirst Florida Resilient City project and is led by The Florida Institute for\nBuilt Environment Resilience (FIBER), the Shimberg Center for Housing Studies,\nand The Center for Landscape Conservation Planning. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Through a generous grant from the Jessie Ball DuPont Fund, the Florida Resilient Cities (FRC) program has funded six multi-disciplinary courses and research projects.
