Biographical Information:

Dr. Yan Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and a core faculty member of the Florida Institute for Built Environment Resilience (FIBER). She is also the Director of Urban Complexity and Resilience Lab. Her research engages the area of urban resilience and the emergent field of urban computing.

Dr. Wang’s current research projects focus on investigating the complexity and dynamics of coupled human-built environment system, developing an intelligent emergencies detection system, visualizing and modeling urban dynamics with geo-visualization techniques and VR/AR, and planning for smart and resilient cities. Her expertise involves big data analytics (i.e., volunteered geographical, semantic and imagery urban-scale data), complex network analysis, GIS, natural language processing, etc.
