Dr. Kang’s research aims to examine the causes and consequences of housing instability. He has conducted research on household- and metropolitan-level predictors of housing instability among low-income renters in the United States and evaluating the role of affordable housing policies in alleviating housing instability. Currently, his research activity includes analyzing panel data to examine residential trajectories of individuals. His research and teaching topics encompass affordable housing policies, housing instability and residential mobility, urban poverty, quantitative data analysis, and Geographic Information System.
